Waste collection and disposal are carried out by 22 organizations. Sorting and recycling are handled by 8 enterprises with a total capacity of 48,300 tons per year.

"To enhance environmental protection activities in the region, four projects for the construction and reclamation of landfills totaling 3.5 billion tenge are being implemented. As a result, the closed old landfill in the city of Tekeli will be reclaimed, a new comprehensive site will be opened, and two new landfills will be built in the cities of Usharal and Sarkand. Additionally, to increase the investment attractiveness of solid waste processing and disposal, it is planned to create the Taldykorgan comprehensive site, which will include the nearby Tekeli city, Eskeldinsky, and Koksu districts. As a result, waste accumulation at the Taldykorgan landfill will increase from 60,000 to 110,000 tons per year," said A. Zhakanbayev.

According to the speaker, applications for 11 infrastructure projects in the waste management sector totaling 6 billion tenge have been submitted to the "Jasyl Damu" Autonomous Organization. The projects include waste collection, transportation, sorting, and processing with the production of finished products. Among them, a significant investment application totaling 5 billion tenge is the waste management project by LLP "Zhanya Sana" in the city of Taldykorgan, which involves the transportation and sorting of 150,000 tons of waste per year.

According to the First Deputy Akim of the region, the implementation of these projects will increase the share of waste recycling from 14% to 34%, reduce the number of illegal dumps, and create 240 new jobs.
